Brief CV: Prof Angel Carracedo (University of Santiago de Compostela) is Director of the Galician Foundation of Genomic Medicine (Galician Service of Health), Director of the Genomics and System Biology Group (CIMUS and IDIS), Director of Translational Medicine group and member board of CIBERER. President of Kaertor and INGADA Foundations. Former director of the Institute of Forensic Sciences- University of Santiago de Compostela. Most of AC recent research is now mainly concentrated in the genetics of mendelian and complex traits and personalized medicine and he is coordinating the IMPACT-Genomics project and the Spanish mirror group of the 1+M Genome Initiative and he has participated in more than 20 EU international projects (being PI of 8 of them). AC has published 8 books and over 900 papers (HI 111), and around 6000 cites per year actually). Former president of different scientific societies on Cancer, Pharmacogenomics and Forensic Science. He has obtained a number of awards and distinctions such as Jaime I Award, Adelaide Medal, Galien Medal, National Award on Genetics, Medal of Galicia, among others. Doctor Honoris Causa for 8 Universities in Europe and the Americas.
Abstract: The goal is to provide a brief overview of current initiatives in Spain, with a particular focus on the IMPaCT Project and the Personalized Medicine projects led by ISCIII, as well as some regional initiatives related to target and drug discovery. Additionally, the coordination of these initiatives with the European 1+Million Genomes initiative and the Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) will be discussed
